VG Marlin Tournament Winner Takes Home $12k in Cash Prize

Year two (2) of the Virgin Gorda International Marlin Tournament (VGIMT)came to a successful close on Monday, July 31st, where the participants were awarded for their great sportsmanship.

The winners of this year’s tournament were Venetor, earning the 1st place cash prize of $12,000 and 2nd place winner, Indigo, received a cash prize of $7,500.

Marketing Director of the BVI Sport Fishing Association, Krys Vialva, was pleased with this year’s tournament in light of the few fish sighted. Mr. Vialva is however, already looking forward to planning next year’s 3rd Annual VGIMT.

“Overall, the tournament was great. Not many fish were seen but the fish that were caught and released were big and aggressive. We were also very happy to have gotten the outside boats to participate this year,” he stated.

The 3 day tournament had a total of seven registered boats: Reel Tight (Florida), Indigo (BVI), Business Stinks (Florida), Venetor (BVI), Lady Evelyn (BVI), Ruckus (BVI) and Islamar (Puerto Rico).
