Welcome to the New and Improved YCCS

YCCS Virgin Gorda reopened March 1st 2017 with 46 employees (up from 26) and the territory’s newest fully operational pump out facility. YCCS Virgin Gorda comprises a purpose-built superyacht marina and a range of hospitality facilities. The Marina can accommodate yachts of up to 90 metres with draughts of 9 metres and offers fresh water, pump out facilities and trash removal as well as concierge, provisioning, and wellness services. Located in a naturally sheltered harbour, the Marina is protected from the prevailing winds and is an ideal base from which to explore the Virgin Islands and the entire Leeward and Windward archipelagos. The Marina and Clubhouse offer bars, restaurants and guest suites as well as private dining rooms and a spacious event lawn.

Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda is pleased to announce that their new and expanded facility in North Sound has reopened as scheduled, 1st March 2017 and is ready to welcome members and non-members alike.

Tortola based company Metro Construction Ltd. employing a team of 50 local craftsmen has completed a comprehensive $3million improvement programme of the existing superyacht marina and clubhouse. These improvements are designed to meet the growing needs of the global superyacht community and continue our commitment to invest in making the BVI a key destination for megayachts.

Local businesses and visiting yachtsmen will now have a choice of two restaurants and bars. The Clubhouse’s elegant Azzurra restaurant will continue to offer a fine dining experience unparalleled in the region, while the new informal waterside restaurant Bar Aqua will specialise in light and tasty craft food as well as drinks ranging from vitamin-packed smoothies to other thirst-quenching cocktails.

Both of the restaurants will feature international cuisine with accents of the best that the Club’s Caribbean home and its distinctly Italian heritage have to offer. All the menus at YCCS Virgin Gorda will favour fresh, locally sourced ingredients, with organic and sustainable produce taking pride of place.
The theme of sustainability and environmental protection will run through all of the Club’s activities in 2017 – a year in which YCCS, originally founded in Porto Cervo, Italy where the association’s summer base is located, celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Two new guest suites, complete with spectacular views over the breath-taking North Sound, will be available from March 1st and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda will also offer a host of wellness services; personal training in our fully equipped gym and yoga and pilates classes. An on-site concierge service can organize diving, trekking and watersports as well as excursions to nearby beauty spots aboard the Club’s two 45ft luxury motor catamarans which are available for day charter.

Speaking on the reopening of YCCS, Jan Pachner, Secretary General said “We are very excited by this next stage in the club’s development in Virgin Gorda and are determined to ensure that both the Azzurra restaurant at the YCCS Clubhouse and Bar Aqua at the YCCS marina become must-visit destinations in the Caribbean. With a world-class deep water marina with improved facilities and our beautiful clubhouse reopening we are happy to welcome all local business and visiting yachtsmen to enjoy our club at it’s stunning location overlooking North Sound. I am particularly pleased to welcome back our former employees and all the new members of staff who have joined our stellar team to assist us in coping with the increased business.”

The new-look YCCS Clubhouse and Marina will be unveiled just as a throng of international visitors descend upon Virgin Gorda for three of the yacht club’s signature regattas in March. The Rolex Swan Cup Caribbean kicks off proceedings from March 1st to 5th while a special 50th Anniversary Regatta “parade of sail” open to yachts of all shapes and sizes will take place on March 7th. The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and Rendezvous (March 10-13), which each year welcomes a spectacular fleet of the world’s most impressive sailing superyachts, will round off an exciting few weeks at the new facilities.
